These kiddos came in with slight dread when their mama answered a photography model call I posted on Facebook. Unsure emotions, mixed with a windy, chilly day, you could say I might have started with the odds not in my favor.
That diminished quickly when I asked them what type of music they wanted to listen to.
"ANYTHING but country," they said. It was unanimous. I was out voted.
As the latest Spotify "pop hits" list played, the fun banter between the siblings started as they relaxed.
After giving me crazy, unsure looks when asking them to wrap themselves in heart garland, or posing hands awkwardly for a creative shot, their personalities crept out. This is when my favorite part starts to happen.
Once they realize it wasn't going to be a stiff, boring, all posed "because I said so" session, they played up the prompts I gave them and had some fun! From hip bumps, to discussing if "fart" is still a funny word (which it is!), we shared laughter and giggles. Oh, and telling me that the pop list of music I played was the same as their Mama's playlist with every new song that started, which I'm cool with that!
These kiddos made it tough on their mama to pick out their images. That's where I love to assist and have in-person consults with my clients. It's not about showing off various samples of artwork offerings, but about making sure you are getting what you want from your session.
I want you to walk away from your portrait session with a happy heart and excitement for your new artwork. It's what I strive for a photographer. You don't need images sitting on your hard drive, they don't decorate your walls. I want you to be able to share your story. I want to photograph the true, authentic you.
I want you to Tell your story.
